Popular Mechanics: Finland, Sweden to benefit NATO in confrontation with Russia

Finland and Sweden will be useful to NATO, as they have the developed armed forces capable of protecting such countries as Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

If Stockholm joins NATO, this will allow NATO to fully control the Baltic Sea as Helsinki has the developed artillery, according to the US Popular Mechanics magazine.

In case of a confrontation with Russia, NATO will have the access to many more air and naval bases in Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea, if Sweden and Finland join NATO, the message said.

“There are 19,250 military personnel and 238,000 people in reserve Finland, all of them have been well trained and are able to be mobilised within a few hours,” the message said.
