Power outage in Paris brings metro, rail services to standstill
A power failure struck several districts of Paris in the morning of November 20, crippling public transport and plunging parts of the French capital into confusion.
The electricity operator Enedis confirmed that the outage forced the suspension of portions of the metro network as well as suburban rail services, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The disruption left thousands of commuters struggling to reach workplaces and schools during the busy morning peak.
Restoration of power is expected by 9:00 a.m. local time (UTC+1), although officials have not yet disclosed the cause of the malfunction.
Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and, where possible, make use of alternative transport routes until the electricity supply is fully reinstated.
