Two killed, eight injured in overnight attack on Kyiv VIDEO / UPDATED

Two people were killed and at least eight injured in an overnight attack on Kyiv, with fires and damage reported in several districts of the Ukrainian capital, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

In the Solomianskyi district, warehouse buildings were partially destroyed, and a fire broke out. Three of the injured were hospitalised, the SES said.

In the Podilskyi district, a strike near a maternity hospital triggered a fire in a parking area, setting four cars ablaze. The body of one person was found at the scene. A non-residential building was also damaged.

In the Dniprovskyi district, an administrative building was damaged. At another location, a private house was destroyed, while rescuers saved one person. Two neighbouring houses were also damaged.

A massive overnight missile attack targeted Kyiv early on September 24, with Russian strikes reportedly hitting energy facilities and weapons storage sites in the Ukrainian capital.

According to the Russian Telegram channel SHOT, the attack involved ballistic missiles and began at around 1 a.m. More than a dozen explosions were reported across the city.

Videos circulating online showed flashes in the night sky and the glow of fires following several reported strikes. Disruptions to electricity and water supplies were also reported in some parts of Kyiv.

Powerful explosions were additionally reported in Odesa and near a bridge in the settlement of Maiaky in Ukraine's Odesa Region, according to the same source.
