Powerful blast hits industrieal facility in Mississippi, US
A powerful explosion occurred at a CF Industries plant in the U.S. state of Mississippi on November 5, the Mississippi Free Press reported, citing local authorities.
The facility, located north of Yazoo City, was rocked by the blast at around 4:25 p.m. local time (02:25 Baku time). Officials have warned that an anhydrous ammonia leak is still ongoing.
On November 5 evening, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves said on X that the relevant authorities are assisting local emergency managers.
“Initial reports indicate the leak is due to an explosion. At this time, no deaths or injuries have been reported,” Reeves said.
The state of Mississippi is actively responding to the anhydrous ammonia leak at CF Industries’ plant north of Yazoo City. @MSEMA, @MDEQ and @MissDPS are currently assisting local emergency managers.

For the record, the plant produces hydrogen- and nitrogen-based products, including ammonia and fertilisers. Residents were advised to shelter in place, while authorities ordered the evacuation of people and businesses along two nearby streets.
CF Industries stated that “all employees and contractors who were on-site at the time of the incident have been safely evacuated.”
