President: European Union remains Serbia’s strategic priority
Serbia continues to regard the European Union as its strategic choice and a central priority of foreign policy, according to President Aleksandar Vucic.
He made the remarks during a joint press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who is visiting Belgrade, as per Russian media.
“For Serbia, membership in the European Union is a strategic choice and a priority of its foreign policy, and this will not change, at least until the next elections, and, as I believe, even after them,” Vucic emphasised.
He reaffirmed that Serbia is pursuing European integration despite challenges in the negotiation process.
“Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, we have not opened a single new negotiation chapter or cluster. And yet, I think we have achieved some progress recently. We still have a lot to do, but it is important that we ourselves, internally, determine the direction of our policies,” Vucic added.
