Presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev honours Azerbaijan’s TV legacy on historic anniversary
On February 14, 1956, Azerbaijan made history, becoming the first in the East to launch television broadcasting. This milestone marked a new chapter in the political and cultural life of the nation, and it continues to resonate today.
Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, took to social media to commemorate the occasion, Caliber.Az reports.
In a post on his X account, he shared:
"Today, February 14, marks the anniversary of the launch of television broadcasting in Azerbaijan. On this very day in 1956, the first television in the East went on air in our country with the words 'Attention, attention, Baku is on the air,' opening a new chapter in our nation’s political and cultural life."
Reflecting on the progress made since that historic moment, Hajiyev continued:
"Today, our television channels continuously evolve in terms of content and format, with the professionalism and dedication of creative teams evident in every program and video report. On this remarkable occasion, I sincerely congratulate all television professionals and wish them creative success and new achievements."
