Prison brawl in Greece leaves two inmates dead
Greek law enforcement authorities have arrested 11 people in connection with a mass fight at Nigrita prison in northern Greece, which left two inmates dead.
According to Ekathimerini, police carried out a search following the incident, during which makeshift knives and other items used in the clash were confiscated.
Authorities said the main suspects in the killings are citizens of Georgia and Albania. Another nine prisoners are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the violent confrontation.
The deceased inmates were nationals of Iran and Algeria. Their identities have not been disclosed, and the circumstances and motives behind the incident remain unclear.
Prison staff intervened during the fight, provided first aid to the injured, and called emergency services.
