Private jet crashes at Dominican Republic airport, two crew members killed VIDEO
A Gulfstream G200 private jet crashed at La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic on June 7, killing both crew members on board, aviation authorities said.
According to the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute, the aircraft declared an emergency while approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of La Romana before attempting to return to the airport, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The jet was trying to land when it went down on the runway, the authority said. No passengers were on board at the time of the crash; only the pilot and co-pilot were aboard, both of whom were killed.
Footage circulating on social media appears to show the aircraft losing control during landing, bouncing on the runway before erupting into a fireball, followed by a large plume of smoke rising from the site.
