Public supports establishment of Western Azerbaijan government-in-exile Survey results
The Azerbaijan Social Research Centre has conducted a public opinion survey regarding the establishment of the Western Azerbaijan government-in-exile.
The survey results indicate that a majority of respondents support the creation of such a government to facilitate the dignified return of Western Azerbaijanis to their homeland. Specifically, when asked, “Do you support the establishment of the Western Azerbaijan government-in-exile?” 85.5 per cent answered "Yes, I support it," while 4.4 per cent responded "No, I do not support it," and 10.1 per cent failed to answer, Caliber.Az reports.
The survey was conducted from September 17 to 27, 2024, among 388 respondents aged 18 and older. The principles of voluntary participation and anonymity were upheld throughout the survey.
The Western Azerbaijan Community is always ready for a direct dialogue with the Armenian government regarding the issue of return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia.
Despite the Community's repeated attempts for dialogue, Armenia has not yet responded to its calls. Armenia's avoidance of dialogue does not contribute to progress towards a just and sustainable resolution.
The Western Azerbaijan Community calls on the Armenian government to respect its international human rights obligations and to create conditions for the return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia.
