Putin approves ratification of treaties accessing new regions to Russia
On October 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the ratification of international treaties with the so-called "Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics", as well as with the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine about the accession of these regions to Russia.
The relevant documents are posted on the Official Internet Portal of Legal Information, Gazeta.Ru reports.
The basis for joining the relevant regions in Russia contains declarations of independence and sovereignty; proposals of the regions on their acceptance into Russia; agreements between Russia and the regions on the admission to Russia and the formation of new entities within the country; current federal constitutional law.
Putin also appointed interim "governors and heads" of the "Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics", as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Denis Pushilin was appointed "acting head" of the "DPR"; Leonid Pasechnik - "LNR".
Evgeny Balitsky was appointed "acting governor" of the Zaporizhzhia region, Vladimir Saldo - of the Kherson region.
All decrees came into force from the date of their signing on October 5.
