Putin guarantees Zelenskyy full security in Moscow talks
Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy complete security for negotiations in Moscow.
Speaking at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), Putin said that Russia would ensure both the conditions and safety for Zelenskyy to conduct talks, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
“The Ukrainian side wants this meeting and has proposed it. Please come, we will fully provide the conditions for work and safety. Guarantee 100%,” he said.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry had dismissed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s offer for a meeting in Moscow with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling it “not serious.”
Spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi said the invitation shows Russia’s reluctance to hold meaningful talks.
He added that Ukraine is coordinating with international partners, including the US, and that at least seven countries are willing to host a meeting between the two leaders.
