Qatar Airways extends flight suspension until airspace deemed safe
Qatar Airways announced on Friday, March 6, that it will continue to suspend its flights until the safety of Qatar’s airspace can be confirmed.
In a statement published on its official website, the airline said that flight operations will resume only after approval is granted by the country’s Civil Aviation Authority.
The carrier added that it is working around the clock to arrange additional flights in order to compensate for delays and disruptions. Passengers affected by the situation will be contacted directly by the airline.
Air travel across the Middle East has been experiencing major disruptions amid the ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel and Iran. The situation has led to temporary airspace closures and restrictions in several countries across the region.
Qatar Airways also urged passengers not to travel to the airport without official confirmation that their flights will operate. The airline advised travellers to update their contact information through its website or mobile application in order to receive the latest updates.
