Qatar evacuates residents living “in the vicinity” to US Embassy

Authorities in Qatar are evacuating residents living “in the vicinity” of the US Embassy as a “temporary precautionary measure,” the interior ministry said, CNN reports.

The ministry didn’t specify what prompted the move, only saying that it was done to maintain public safety.

Evacuees will be provided with suitable accommodation, authorities said.
