Qatar, France discuss regional security amid Iranian attacks
Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the situation in the region and broader security issues, Qatar News Agency reports.
During the call, Macron condemned ongoing Iranian attacks against Qatar and other regional countries, emphasising France’s full solidarity with Doha. He also highlighted the effectiveness of Qatar’s armed forces in ensuring security and protecting residents, including French citizens.
The leaders also addressed bilateral relations, including the stability of energy supplies, the freedom of navigation along key maritime routes, and the strengthening of defence cooperation.
Both reaffirmed their commitment to the strategic partnership and stressed the importance of de-escalation and diplomacy for long-term regional stability.
