Qatar says Israel's nuclear facilities must be placed under IAEA supervision
The Qatari Ambassador to Austria Jassim Yacoub Al-Hammadi has called for increased global pressure to ensure that all Israeli nuclear facilities are monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Al-Hammadi also urged that the country joins the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
A statement by the Qatari Foreign Ministry says these words were voiced on March 8 by the Ambassador of Qatar to Austria Jassim Yacoub Al-Hammadi, who is also the country’s permanent representative to the UN in Vienna.
The statement was made during a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors in Vienna, where issues related to “the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel’s nuclear capabilities” were discussed. Qatar insists that the world community should more actively address this issue.
