Qatari FM: Israel yet to respond to mediators' proposal for Gaza ceasefire
Israel has not yet responded to a ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip, said Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari.
Actions by the Israeli side in the Palestinian enclave are only exacerbating the escalation, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“Israel has not yet responded to the proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. We see nothing from Israel except escalation, expressed in its intention to occupy the city of Gaza,” Al-Ansari said.
The spokesperson noted that mediators are engaging with both the Palestinian Hamas movement and Israel to end the conflict, but so far, within the diplomatic process, “there is nothing new.” He called on the international community to adopt a unified stance to stop Israel’s operation in the Gaza Strip.
In March, the Israeli army resumed hostilities in the sector, breaking the ceasefire established in January this year. During several rounds of negotiations mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the US, the parties to the conflict were unable to agree on the terms of a new agreement.
