Rally participants urge Russian border guards to leave Armenia PHOTO
The young representatives of Armenia’s “National Democratic Pole” political movement is holding a rally near Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport.
“The rally participants are demanding the Russian border guards serving at the airport to leave it,” Caliber.Az reports citing the Armenian media.
“This not only shows the lack of sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, but it is also a shameful fact that insults the dignity of every Armenian. For a worthy Armenian, who is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, it is unacceptable for a foreigner to guard the borders of his country, his house, for a foreigner to decide who is allowed to enter the country and who is not,” the message said.
“In fact, today we are not the masters of our hometown and we do not know to whom the gates of our country are open or closed,” the protesters said.
They appealed to all citizens who know that there are “Russian occupiers” on the Armenian border and do not accept this reality.
“Let us together express our will to expel the Russian occupiers from Armenia and create a sovereign country,” the rally participants said.
