Report: Saudi-marked ammunition found in Houthi-controlled Yemen PHOTO

According to Intelligence Online, video footage it reviewed shows crates of ammunition marked as intended for the Saudi army.

The packaging reportedly bears identifiers of the Saudi Ministry of Defence, along with markings from the Brazilian manufacturer CBC.

Preliminary assessments suggest the ammunition may have reached territory controlled by Houthi forces via smuggling routes. These routes are believed to pass across the borders of Saudi Arabia or Oman and then continue through remote desert areas of Yemen. Investigators have not ruled out an alternative scenario in which part of the shipment had previously been delivered to forces of Yemen’s internationally recognised government and was later resold.

The report notes that this case raises broader concerns about the effectiveness of oversight mechanisms governing arms transfers. In particular, it highlights potential weaknesses in enforcing end-user agreements, which prohibit the transfer of military equipment to third parties without the consent of the exporting state.
