Rescue teams respond after US Coast Guard helicopter crash in Alaska

A US Coast Guard helicopter has crashed in Alaska, ABC News reports.

According to the broadcaster, the accident occurred near the city of Sitka. The aircraft involved was an MH-60 Jayhawk assigned to the Coast Guard Air Station Astoria.

Rescue teams and emergency response personnel were dispatched to the crash site.

"The safety, well-being, and rescue of our crew members is our absolute, immediate priority," the Coast Guard said. "A formal investigation will be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the event."
