Reuters: Aluminium prices surge 6% following attacks on UAE, Bahrain
30 March 2026 20:44
Global aluminium prices have sharply risen after strikes by Iran targeted industrial facilities in the UAE and Bahrain.
According to Reuters, London Metal Exchange trading showed three-month aluminium contracts climbing 6% to $3,492 per tonne, approaching a four-year high and marking the highest level since March 18.
Major regional producers Emirates Global Aluminium and Aluminium Bahrain reported damage to their facilities on March 30. Further market pressure came from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global aluminium shipments.
Since the outbreak of the conflict, global aluminium stocks have fallen by roughly 60% compared with May 2025, reaching 419,000 tonnes.
