08 October 2025 10:52
On October 8, at least 11 Pakistani paramilitary soldiers, including two officers, were killed when Islamist militants ambushed a military convoy near the Afghan border.
The attack occurred in the Kurram district of northwestern Pakistan, where roadside bombs struck the convoy before militants opened fire, Reuters reports, citing five Pakistani security officials.
The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as the Pakistani Taliban, later claimed responsibility for the assault.
Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near the Afghan border. This area is a hotspot for cross-border militancy due to its rugged terrain, porous frontier, and historical TTP sanctuaries in adjacent Afghan provinces like Khost and Paktia.
