Reuters: US continues deploying thousands of marines to Middle East

The United States is continuing the deployment of thousands of Marines to the Middle East amid the ongoing ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran, Reuters reports, citing U.S. officials.

According to the agency, “The U.S. has more than 50,000 U.S. troops in the Middle East and has been increasing that number.”

Sources indicate that the deployment of thousands of Marines from San Diego to the region is still underway.

The troop movements come as the U.S. and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire, aimed at easing tensions following recent confrontations in the Strait of Hormuz.
