Revanchist MP says Armenian army lacks fighting spirit
Avetis Avetisyan, a member of the so-called "Combat Brotherhood" union (a paramilitary organisation of Armenian revanchists), has said that the Armenian Armed Forces‘ biggest problem is the lack of fighting spirit.
He made the remarks on the air of the Armenian radio station Radio 106.5 FM, Caliber.Az reports.
"After 2020, we see a complete drop in the fighting spirit of the Armenian army, there is no change in combat positions. This is the most acute problem at the moment and if we can't raise the morale, I don't know what will happen next,” he stated.
“There are a lot of servicemen in my entourage who are serving or retired and I am in constant contact with them. I see our problem primarily as our soldiers looking at their officers as the enemy. In Vardenis (Basarkechar) the soldiers are afraid of the officers. They look more towards the officers coming than towards the enemy. An officer should be like a big brother, but in our army officers look down at soldiers as slaves," Avetisyan said.
