Rheinmetall CEO says no peace in Ukraine expected this year
16 February 2026 19:39
The chief executive of German defence firm Rheinmetall AG, Armin Papperger, said on Sunday that Russia shows no interest in ending the conflict in Ukraine, meaning peace is unlikely this year.
Speaking on the Table.Today podcast by Table.Briefings, Papperger said the company is currently producing more ammunition than it has contracts for, Caliber.Az reports.
He added that Rheinmetall could supply additional anti-aircraft systems, ammunition, and even tanks, but is constrained by funding.
Papperger also announced plans to expand the company’s workforce to 70,000 employees in the coming years and forecast that Rheinmetall’s order book would reach around €140 billion by the end of 2026.
