Rocket debris strikes Israel's Bazan oil refinery in Haifa
Industrial buildings and a fuel tanker at the Bazan oil refinery in northern Israel’s port city of Haifa were hit by debris from an intercepted rocket, according to Israel’s fire and rescue services.
The incident was reported by The Times of Israel. Authorities have not yet determined whether the rocket was launched from Iran or Lebanon. No injuries have been reported.
Firefighters said a tanker stationed on the refinery grounds sustained a direct hit, resulting in thick smoke rising from the roof of a nearby building. Emergency teams are currently working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the facility while conducting searches for anyone potentially trapped inside.
Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen assured that the refinery’s production facilities were not damaged and that fuel supplies would not be disrupted.
