Rocket, drone attacks target Baghdad airport, several injured
Baghdad International Airport was hit in an attack involving rockets and drones, leaving five people injured, including four staff members, a security guard, and an engineer, Saad Maan, head of the press office of Iraq's Joint Operations Command, announced.
The attack occurred at 19:00 local time (20:00 Baku time), Caliber.Az reports, citing Lebanese National News Agency (NNA).
Impact sites included areas across the airport, a water desalination station, near the Al-Shaheed Alaa airbase—adjacent to the US embassy’s logistics team—and close to Baghdad’s Central Prison (Al-Karkh).
Security forces discovered and neutralised a launch system hidden in a vehicle in the Radwaniyah district in western Baghdad. Preliminary reports indicate that three drones were shot down outside the airport.
Official initial reports confirmed that rockets landed within the airport base housing a US unit, according to a security source.
