Romania could adopt euro in 2032, minister says
17 August 2026 19:09
Romania could join the eurozone in 2032 if it meets the necessary conditions, acting Investment and European Projects Minister Dragos Pislaru has said.
He said the transition would depend on fiscal and budgetary consolidation, an agreed national development plan and political stability, Caliber.Az reports, citing Romanian media.
“The goal is to put our finances in order by 2030,” Pislaru said, adding that Romania should also adopt a national development plan for 2028–2034.
Before adopting the euro, Romania would have to complete a two-year monitoring period under the EU's exchange-rate mechanism, he said.
