Romania evacuates 318 pilgrims, tourists from Israel

The first group of Romanian citizens stranded in Israel has safely returned home on two charter flights, Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu announced on Facebook.

“Two planes carrying 318 Romanian citizens, including pilgrims and tourists, have safely landed in Romania. The charter flights were organized by travel agencies and the airline Tarom,” the Foreign Minister wrote.

Țoiu explained that the evacuees first traveled from Israel to Egypt via the Taba border crossing before being flown back to Romania.
