Romania mobilises military aircraft to deliver humanitarian aid to Lebanon

Two Romanian Air Force aircraft departed on Wednesday, April 15, from Otopeni Air Base carrying humanitarian aid for the civilian population of Lebanon, according to an official statement from Romania’s Ministry of Defence.

The operation involves C-130 Hercules and C-27J Spartan transport aircraft, carrying around 15 tons of humanitarian supplies, including food, tents, and materials for setting up temporary camps from national reserves.

The cargo will be delivered to Amman and then transported to Beirut as part of an international humanitarian convoy.

The request for assistance was made through the European Civil Protection Mechanism due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Lebanon.
