Romania scrambles fighter jets over aerial target near border
Romania scrambled two F-18 fighter jets during the night of September 29 after military radar detected an aerial target near the country’s airspace, the Romanian Ministry of National Defence said on the social media platform X.

The aerial target was detected north of the Romanian town of Isaccea in Tulcea County.
Following the detection, two F-18 fighter jets were scrambled to monitor the situation. An air raid alert was issued in the northern part of Tulcea County at 01:51.
The alert was lifted at 02:10. No reports were received of any intrusion into Romanian airspace.
A similar incident occurred on September 26, when Romanian authorities issued an emergency warning to residents in northern Tulcea County after military radar detected an aerial target near the country’s border with Ukraine early Saturday.
The Romanian Ministry of National Defence said its radar surveillance system detected the target during the night of September 25-26 near the Ukrainian town of Vylkove, close to the Romanian border.
