Rome to host fresh Lebanon-Israel talks under US mediation
A new round of US-mediated negotiations between Lebanon and Israel is set to take place in Rome on August 4, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced.
The minister emphasised that the Italian capital would once again serve as the venue for talks between the two sides, Caliber.Az reports, citing The New York Times (NYT).
During a briefing to Italy’s Parliament on the outcomes of the NATO Summit in Ankara, Tajani described the development as an important achievement, stating: “This is an important achievement, the result of patient foreign policy efforts that build bridges and never erect walls.”
The previous round of negotiations was held in Rome on July 14–15. Following those discussions, Lebanon and Israel agreed to establish so-called “pilot zones” in southern Lebanon.
