Rubio backs Vance as 2028 presidential candidate

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on July 26, expressed support for Vice President J.D. Vance as a potential candidate in the 2028 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview on Fox News, Rubio was asked about his own political plans for the next election cycle. While not confirming a personal bid, he instead pointed to Vance as a strong contender from the Republican Party, Caliber.Az reports. 

“I think J.D. Vance would be a great candidate,” Rubio said.

Earlier, on July 7, US President Donald Trump also named Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio among individuals he sees as possible successors.
