Rubio calls Iran’s nuclear drive an “irreconcilable” problem for US
Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons represents an “irreconcilable” problem for Washington and its allies, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said in an interview with Fox News.
He stated that Iran’s clerical leadership is pursuing nuclear weapons, stressing that the world views this as entirely unacceptable and something that must not be allowed to happen.
“When there’s conflict, that’s – between what they want and what we want, that’s where the work of diplomacy and these personal relationships between the leaders is so critical. And there are times when some of those issues of conflict are irreconcilable.
I think Iran is an example of that: their clerical regime wants to have a nuclear weapon, and the world – led by President Trump – says that’s completely impossible, cannot happen. So unfortunately, there are some areas like that where it comes up,” Rubio added.
