Rubio reaffirms US commitment to Baltic security, calls nations "ideal allies"
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to strengthening security in the Baltic region, describing Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia as "ideal allies," according to a report by Telegram channel BALTNEWS.
During a meeting with the foreign ministers of the three Baltic nations, Rubio emphasized their strategic importance to U.S. interests and NATO’s eastern flank. The discussions primarily focused on enhancing military cooperation and security assurances in response to regional threats.
"The main outcome of the meeting was Rubio’s expressed commitment to strengthening security in the Baltic region," the report states. His remarks were widely covered by Baltic media, underscoring the significance of the alliance.
Following the talks, it became evident that the Baltic states are keen to secure additional military support from Washington, aligning their diplomatic approach closely with that of Ukraine. As tensions in Eastern Europe persist, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia continue to advocate for an increased U.S. and NATO presence in the region.
