Russia confirms third US talks before autumn ends
The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the third round of talks with the United States on reducing irritants in bilateral relations will take place before the end of autumn.
“It will definitely take place before the end of autumn. There are no dates yet, and everything is still under discussion,” Caliber.Az quotes Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov as saying per Russian media.
On February 27 and April 10, talks were held in Istanbul focused on normalising the working conditions of the Russian and US embassies and discussing ways to overcome irritants in bilateral relations.
The Russian delegation at the first and second rounds of consultations was led by the current ambassador to Washington, Alexander Darchiev, while the American delegation was headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Sonata Coulter.
The first meeting, held behind closed doors, lasted more than six hours, while the second round of talks lasted five and a half hours.
