Russia expands sanctions on UK officials in tit-for-tat move
In response to recent measures taken by the United Kingdom, Russia has announced new sanctions that will bar 15 British citizens from entering the country.
The sanctions specifically target individuals connected to the UK’s military-industrial sector and private security firms, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the list of barred individuals includes leaders of British military-industrial companies involved in supplying weaponry to Ukraine. Additionally, the sanctions affect heads of private security companies engaged in training Ukrainian military personnel. The measure also encompasses experts and publicists known for their anti-Russian positions on defence issues.
The Ministry's statement outlines that these sanctions are part of a broader response to what Russia perceives as "London's aggressive actions." The decision to expand the entry ban reflects Russia’s ongoing efforts to counteract what it views as hostile actions by the UK.
The expanded sanctions are intended to pressure the UK by targeting those who support or facilitate anti-Russian activities, particularly those linked to defence and military support for Ukraine. This move underscores the escalating tensions between Russia and the UK over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and related geopolitical issues.
