Russia hits Ukraine’s Odesa energy facility, fires erupt PHOTO
Russian forces have carried out a strike on Odesa region, damaging energy infrastructure, storage facilities, an administrative building, and a garage, local officials have said. Several settlements were temporarily left without electricity.
Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper and Odesa City Military Administration head Serhiy Lysak reported the attack on Telegram.
“The enemy launched a massive assault on Odesa district using strike drones. Despite the active work of air defence forces, the energy infrastructure sustained damage. Warehouses, an administrative building, and a garage were also hit. Fires broke out on site but were quickly extinguished by rescuers,” Kiper said.
He added that there were no casualties, and repair teams have already begun restoring power. Critical infrastructure is currently operating on generators.
Lysak said that a residential building and other civilian infrastructure in Odesa were also damaged during the overnight attack, leaving part of the city without electricity.
“Utility services are clearing debris, helping cover broken windows, and identifying the needs of residents. Energy workers are already restoring power. Despite the difficult conditions, kindergartens and schools will remain open, supplied by generators,” he said.
