Russia launches 40 drones at Ukraine overnight
Ukraine came under a large-scale drone attack involving 40 strike UAVs, including Shahed and Gerbera types, as well as other models, on the night of September 12, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Air defence systems intercepted 33 of the drones, more than 20 of which were Shaheds. Anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups took part in repelling the assault, Caliber.Az reports via RBC-Ukraine.
Ukrainian forces have said that they successfully disrupted drone operations over northern, eastern, and central regions of the country.
Six drones managed to strike three locations. In the city of Sumy, a drone hit a non-residential building and triggered a fire.
Meanwhile, reports emerged of drone activity inside Russia. Overnight, unidentified drones struck the port of Primorsk in the Leningrad region, setting a ship ablaze. Residents of Smolensk reported explosions, while drone sounds were also heard over the regions of Kursk and Bryansk.
