Russia launches frigate Admiral Makarov to sea

Russian forces deployed the frigate "Admiral Makarov" in the Black Sea, increasing the number of "Kalibr" missile carriers to three, according to Operational Command South.

"The adversary has once again increased the presence of ballistic missile submarines on combat duty in the Black Sea: the frigate 'Admiral Makarov' has been added to the existing two submarines," according to a statement from the Southern Ukrainian Defense Forces, RBC-Ukraine reports.

It is reported that collectively, the two submarines and the missile frigate can launch up to 16 cruise missiles of the 'Kalibr' type, provided that all launchers are loaded with missiles.

The Kalibr missile system is a family of Russian cruise missiles designed for the destruction of ground targets. Typically, surface ships and submarines serve as carriers for these missiles.
