Russia’s Belgorod region plans anti-drone corridors along roads
Authorities in Belgorod Oblast in Russia plan to begin constructing anti-drone corridors along roads in the region, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
Writing on his Telegram channel, Gladkov said the work would begin once weather conditions allow it.
“As soon as the weather allows, when the snow melts, and the ground dries, we will begin work to install supports and then stretch netting to create safe corridors for the movement of our residents,” he wrote.
Gladkov noted that the construction process will be complicated due to terrain conditions along the roads and the presence of underground communications infrastructure.
He added that the work is further complicated by ongoing attacks in the region, but stressed that the project must be completed as quickly as possible.
According to the governor, the measures are necessary because of the “extremely tense” situation in Russia’s border regions.
To study the experience of building such anti-drone corridors, the head of the Belgorod region’s regional security department, Yevgeny Vorobyev, together with staff from the regional capital construction department, will travel to the “new regions” to review similar projects.
