Russia summons Moldovan diplomat over reports of F-16 jets in Moldova
The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Moldovan charge d'affaires Alexandru Chetraru to express serious concerns about media reports suggesting that F-16 jets, transferred by the West to Kyiv, might be stationed at airfields in Moldova for bombing sorties against Russian territory.
Russian diplomats questioned the ongoing militarization of Moldova and its joint military exercises with NATO, arguing that these actions contradict Moldova's constitutionally mandated neutrality and negatively impact the Transnistrian settlement process, Caliber.Az reports via TASS.
Russia urged Moldova to adhere to its neutral status and avoid actions that could escalate the Ukrainian crisis or destabilize the region. The ministry also rejected Moldova's claims about the illegal deployment of Russian forces in Transnistria as baseless.
