Russia-Ukraine talks may be held till late 2024
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping anticipate that new peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv could occur before the conclusion of this year.
“Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban asserts that Putin and Xi Jinping are confident that new peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will happen before the end of the year,” Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.
Orban states in a confidential report on his trips to Moscow and Beijing that his objective is to propose a European peace initiative for Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The president said that the goals are “demilitarisation” and “denazification” of the neighbouring country, as well as the protection of the civilian population of Donbas from “genocide by Kyiv authorities”. After the outbreak of hostilities, the Ukrainian authorities introduced martial law throughout the country and launched a general mobilisation. The partial mobilisation was announced in Russia in September 2022.
