Russia urges Armenia to stop “endless fuss” around Collective Security Treaty Organisation
Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova has called on Armenia to stop the “endless fuss” around membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) amid Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements.
“We reiterate that the CSTO is an organisation to which everyone comes voluntarily. There is no pressure on the member states. There is a mutually respectful dialogue there. No one is holding anyone by force. What is the problem? Why have Armenian politicians been speculating so much on this topic for so many years? What is the purpose of this endless fuss?” Zakharova said, TASS reports.
Zakharova emphasised that the Russian side will always have friendly relations with Armenia.
“We are developing relations because the matter does not rest in specific personalities who appear in the political arenas of different countries at a certain period. The matter rests in people, two countries. We have made so much efforts to develop our relations that no one will be able to ruin them,” she added.
