Russia, US to sign agreement on Chukotka-Alaska tunnel project

Russia and the United States will sign an agreement on the design of a tunnel connecting the two countries.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) will sign an agreement to continue the design of a tunnel between Chukotka and Alaska.

Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the RDIF and the Russian president’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, made the announcement in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

“Tomorrow, we will sign an agreement to continue the tunnel design work. The tunnel will be built. It will become one of the largest infrastructure projects between our countries,” Dmitriev said.
