Russian airstrike hits Ukraine’s Sloviansk city, severely damaging infrastructure PHOTO / VIDEO
A Russian airstrike on Sloviansk in Ukraine’s Donetsk region has left one person injured and caused extensive damage to residential buildings and local infrastructure, authorities said.
According to ASTRA, citing the city’s military administration, the strike on the morning of April 15 involved a FAB-1500 aerial bomb that hit the central part of the city.
A 57-year-old man was injured in the attack. In total, 39 apartment buildings and 15 vehicles were damaged.
City officials said a children’s sports facility, considered a local historical landmark, was completely destroyed. An administrative building was also levelled, while another structure sustained damage.
“The children’s sports facility, which was a historical landmark of the city, has been completely destroyed… An administrative building was destroyed, and another building was damaged,” said Sloviansk’s military administration head Vadym Lyakh.
