Russian attack kills 61-year-old man in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia
A 61-year-old man was killed in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region following an attack by Russian forces.
Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, wrote on Telegram that an FPV drone struck a car travelling on a road in the village of Veselyanka, damaging the vehicle and killing the driver at the scene, Caliber.Az reports.
Russian forces have significantly intensified strikes across the Zaporizhzhia region in recent days. On December 30, regional authorities and verified local reports stated that over 600 attacks had hit at least 25 populated areas, causing civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.
On December 28, a temporary local ceasefire was brokered by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant to allow power line repairs, highlighting how the conflict’s front lines remain active even near critical facilities.
Last week, Russian glide bomb strikes on apartment blocks in the regional capital wounded at least 26 people, including a child, underscoring continuing threats to civilian areas.
