Russian attack leaves thousands in darkness in Ukraine's Chernihiv

A Russian attack in Ukraine’s Chernihiv region damaged a critical energy facility, leaving more than 31,000 consumers without electricity, according to Chernihivoblenergo.

“As a result of the enemy attack, an energy facility in the Chernihiv district was damaged. More than 31,000 subscribers are without power,” the company said.

It added that repair crews are ready to begin restoration work, but will only proceed once conditions are safe.

“Energy workers will begin restoration work as soon as the security situation allows,” the statement said.
