Russian drone hits police vehicle in Ukraine's Sumy, officer injured

Russian forces carried out a drone strike on a police vehicle in the town of Bilopillia in Ukraine’s Sumy region, injuring a law enforcement officer, regional authorities said.

The incident was reported by the regional police on Telegram channel.

“Today at around 13:00 in the city of Bilopillia, the enemy carried out a targeted drone strike on a police service vehicle. At the time of the attack, the officer was at the wheel and performing official duties. According to preliminary data, the policeman sustained a non-serious injury as a result of the drone strike,” the statement said. 

The injured officer received medical assistance, authorities confirmed.

The police vehicle sustained significant damage and has been rendered unusable.

An investigative task force is currently working at the scene, and the attack is being documented as a “war crime,” according to the police.
