Russian drone strike in Ukraine's Cherkaske kills four, including child PHOTO

In the settlement of Cherkaske in Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region, a Russian Geran-2 drone attack killed four civilians, including a five-year-old child, and injured five others, authorities confirmed.

The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the incident via Telegram. The attack occurred at 22:50 on January 22 and targeted a private residential area.

The strike claimed the lives of a 32-year-old man and his five-year-old son, along with two neighboring residents. The mother of the deceased child and three girls aged 12, 14, and 16 sustained injuries, alongside a 34-year-old local woman. All victims were inside their homes at the time of the strike.

Medical reports indicate the injured suffered from blast injuries, burns, and abrasions, with doctors assessing their conditions as serious and moderate. Two households were completely destroyed in the attack.

Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, noted that one more person was injured in Druzhkivka over the past day. Since the start of the Russian invasion, Donetsk region has recorded 3,986 civilian deaths and 8,813 injuries, figures that exclude casualties in Mariupol and Volnovakha.

The strike follows previous Russian attacks in the region. On January 20, Russian forces dropped six glide bombs on Druzhkivka, injuring four civilians.
