Russian drone strikes civilian evacuation vehicle in Ukraine's Sumy

Russian forces carried out a targeted drone strike on a civilian evacuation vehicle in Sumy Region while it was transporting residents from the border area of Shostka District, Ukraine.

The vehicle, operated by the special police unit White Angel, sustained significant damage in the attack, said Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

The White Angel vehicle is civilian and widely recognized by local residents, as the unit conducts daily evacuations from high-risk areas along the border. Despite the severe impact of the strike, the vehicle’s armored protection ensured that all evacuees escaped unharmed, though they reportedly suffered significant psychological stress. Police personnel accompanying the evacuation sustained minor injuries and are currently undergoing medical evaluation.
